Ben and Sam Spence
Ben has been farming his whole life – his grandad purchased Home Farm back in 1953. Sam is a newbie to farming – Ben first introduced Sam to the cows when they met in 2012 and she’s loved it ever since. We are both trained in other skills – Ben is an accountant and Sam is an actuary – but farming is a way of life and we just couldn’t keep away!
We are the only farmhouse cheesemaker in Wensleydale. A hundred years ago almost every dairy farm would have made their own cheese.
We also sell fresh milk in reusable glass bottles from our milk vending machine. It lives inside a horse box converted into a mobile shop, which is parked in a different Wensleydale village each day of the week.”
